2005-04-24 - 2:43 p.m. The first thing you have to know about med, is the trend is for more and more women to apply and less and less men. I think the average in America now at med schools is 55% female students - which is way up from what it was a couple years ago. My school: 6-1 ratio of girls to boys. Six to one! I have to think really really hard to even name 5 other guys in my class. I can't stress just how awesome this is. Not only for the obvious reason, but also because when you put a large group of girls together for 8 hours a day every day it's like filming your own desperate housewives! I'm just mentioning this because it's a real barrier to studying sometimes. What's more fun, is just to walk around the library and look for class mates and find out who's sleeping with who's old boyfriend or who thinks they might be pregnate or who passed out at a bar the night before and woke up in the staff lounge of a nursing home. |
